As the “majority employer” in Singapore, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will play an outsized role in the green economy, said MP Desmond Choo in Parliament on Wednesday (Mar 3). He asked how this role will be defined and pointed out that SMEs might not have the necessary resources to plan for the future. He asked if those wanting to test or introduce green technologies to their business operations can be given more support. He also asked about the Government’s plans to work with the oil and gas sector, a major fixture in Singapore’s economy, in transitioning to a low-carbon future.
