Committee of Supply 2021 debate, Day 4: Edward Chia on ESG accreditation mark in line with Green Plan

04:48 Min
Singapore must drive enterprises to adopt environmental, social and governance (ESG) aims, in line with the Green Plan 2030, said MP Edward Chia in Parliament on Wednesday (Mar 3). He proposed introducing an ESG accreditation mark, which would also enable investors and consumers to make informed decisions on enterprises they want to support. Mr Chia said ESG measurements should be tiered within sectors to account for large and small businesses. He also said Singapore could start by incorporating an ESG element when evaluating applications for enterprise grant schemes.
