Committee of Supply 2021 debate, Day 4: Sun Xueling on Character and Citizenship Education

Singapore could become a leader for Character and Citizenship Education (CCE) in the region with a new centre being set up to helm teacher education in the field, Minister of State for Education Sun Xueling told Parliament on Wednesday (Mar 3). The centre will bring together local and global experts in CCE research and professional development. Meanwhile, children with special social and behavioural needs will get more support to enable them to learn mostly independently in class by the end of Primary 1. A programme called TRANSIT will be rolled out to all primary schools by 2026.
