Committee of Supply 2021 debate, Day 5: Hazel Poa on mitigating impact of extreme weather

Will Singapore address the root causes of flooding in vulnerable areas and does its flood protection plans adequately account for future increases in extreme rainfall? These questions were posed by NCMP Hazel Poa in Parliament on Thursday (Mar 4). She noted that flash floods have become more frequent and extreme weather events will become more common due to climate change. She also said developing forest areas makes the problem worse as it removes their protective benefits.
