Committee of Supply 2021 debate, Day 5: Louis Chua on need to review land use planning policy

05:31 Min
The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic may mean a need to re-evaluate Singapore's planning policy to maximise land use, said MP Louis Chua. Speaking in Parliament on Thursday (Mar 4), he said with technology changes and advances, there is a need to relook land use needs. For example, during the circuit breaker period, the viability of working from home reduced the need for traditional single-use commercial buildings and areas, and increased the need for more flexibility, as the lines between different building use types are blurred.
