Debate on strategy to emerge stronger from COVID-19: Don Wee on support for underprivileged children(Updated: )
Children in Singapore have a legal right to the necessities of living, education and healthcare, but what may be lacking is effective oversight to ensure that those in low-income families are receiving these essentials. Making that point in Parliament on Wednesday (Oct 14), MP Don Wee suggested setting up an equivalent of the Agency for Integrated Care for children and youths to coordinate such efforts. Without a healthy living and learning environment, underprivileged kids will not stand a chance in a future knowledge-intensive economy, he said.
