Debate on strategy to emerge stronger from COVID-19: Foo Mee Har on SkillsFuture 2.0(Updated: )
SkillsFuture must evolve to ensure that training leads to attainment of quantifiable skills, career advancement and wage growth. To that end, MP Foo Mee Har called for a new category of training programme to address specific labour force demands, with the strong involvement of prospective employers and industry groups. She added that training providers should be incentivised to ensure trainees find jobs. In Parliament on Thursday (Oct 15), Ms Foo also asked for a review of the COVID-19 Support Grant to cover workers who voluntarily leave companies in sectors with poor prospects.
