In Parliament on Monday (Feb 11), Senior Minister of State for Health Edwin Tong responded to concerns raised by MPs about a Bill to enforce standardised cigarette packaging. He reiterated the impact of plain packaging and larger graphic health warnings on reducing the take-up and prevalence of smoking. Mr Tong stressed that the decision to implement the changes has not been taken lightly, and that the Government has considered available primary evidence, consulted with experts and sought the public's views. The Bill was passed.
