Gan Siow Huang on review of penalties for employers who illegally deploy FDWs(Updated: )
The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) is reviewing guidelines to see if cases of employers illegally deploying foreign domestic workers (FDWs) which are currently resolved with just a warning should in future be subject to a financial penalty instead, said Minister of State for Manpower Gan Siow Huang. “This is so that employers will take their responsibility towards their foreign domestic workers seriously,” she said. Replying to an MP's question in Parliament on Thursday (Oct 15), she said cases of illegal deployment have remained relatively stable over the past few years.
