Jamus Lim on Singapore’s contributions to IMF initiatives for vulnerable countries(Updated: )
Supporting Singapore’s grants to the International Monetary Fund to help vulnerable countries, MP Jamus Lim said in fact, it should do more - as a nation that has advocated and been a "major beneficiary" of globalisation. In Parliament on Monday (Apr 5), he said Singapore has no foreign aid development agency or concerted strategy to grow its representation at global organisations. He said while it must take care of its own needs first, especially in a crisis, generosity can pay economic dividends in the long run, and increase Singapore's soft power and ability to influence the global agenda.
