Ministerial statement: Lawrence Wong on COVID-19 border controls in Singapore

(Updated: )

Singapore is on a "knife’s edge" with COVID-19 community case numbers that could go either way, but there is a chance of getting things under control by the end of the month, said Education Minister Lawrence Wong in Parliament on Tuesday (May 11). He said it is a "dynamic process" to control the flow of travellers into Singapore and even with the tightest regime, imported cases may still leak into the community. Mr Wong said Singapore has extended Stay-Home Notice for travellers from higher-risk countries though there is no proof that new COVID-19 variants have a longer incubation period.
