The Government is "keenly aware" of the need to maintain the racial balance in Singapore's population in order to preserve social stability and harmony. Minister of State for Home Affairs Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim gave this assurance in reply to an MP's question in Parliament on Thursday (Oct 15). He said Singapore's immigration intakes will continue to be calibrated to preserve this racial balance. He also said the ethnic proportions of Singapore's citizen population have remained stable over the last 10 years.
