Vikram Nair on Maintenance of Religious Harmony (Amendment) Bill(Updated: )
“In my family, my father’s family is Hindu, my mother’s family is Christian, my wife is Buddhist and my mother-in-law is Catholic. I myself am not religious but we have no trouble at all coming together as an extended family … my life is in some ways a microcosm of Singapore,” said MP Vikram Nair. Speaking in Parliament on Monday (Oct 7) on the Maintenance of Religious Harmony (Amendment) Bill, he said what we have in Singapore is quite exceptional and not by accident. The proposed changes are timely to deal with new threats and challenges, and Singapore should not be complacent, he said.
