Yip Hon Weng on Road Traffic (Amendment) Bill(Updated: )
Cycling plays a key role in the push towards a car-lite Singapore and with that in mind, MP Yip Hon Weng made several proposals for improving road safety. One, create more dedicated cycling lanes, roping in cyclists to help identify the best sections of road that can be converted for this. Two, implement common road safety education and regulations for cyclists and motorists to prevent ambiguity. Three, reconsider how legal concepts like presumed liability and duty of care should be applied to simplify how fault is determined in a road accident. Mr Yip spoke in Parliament on Tuesday (May 11).
