LaLiga talking points

MADRID : Inaki Williams sets a new LaLiga record, Arnaut Danjuma might be the signing of the season, and nobody wants to be top of the table.

Here are the talking points from the weekend's action in LaLiga:

Inaki the unbreakable

Athletic Bilbao forward Inaki Williams is known for his electric pace and goalscoring, but it is his availability that might just be the asset his managers value the most.

The 27-year-old featured in a record 203rd consecutive successive LaLiga match on Friday, surpassing Juan Larranaga's streak of 202 set with Basque rivals Real Sociedad between 1986-1992.

Williams' run started in April 2016, and he has not missed a league game since, showing remarkable discipline to avoid injury and suspension.

Many eyebrows were raised when Europa League winners Villarreal paid over 20 million euros for a player from England's second division in Arnaut Danjuma, but it has proved to be money well spent - with local media now referring to him as "Danjumagic".

The Dutchman has been nothing sort of brilliant in the opening weeks of the campaign and is looking like the league's signing of the season.

He has won a spot in the starting XI and netted four goals in LaLiga - including both in Sunday's 2-0 victory over Betis - and one in the Champions League.

He was also man of the match in Villarreal's last-gasp 2-1 Champions League defeat by Manchester United.

Nobody wants to be top of the league

As Real Madrid crashed to a shock 2-1 defeat against Espanyol, Real Sociedad would have been the unlikely league leaders heading into the international break had they beaten bottom side Getafe.

They could only manage a draw, however, meaning they are level on 17 points with Real and Atletico.

Sevilla could have joined the trio, but the league's last unbeaten team lost 1-0 to fellow Andalusians Granada to leave Julen Lopetegui's side three off top spot.
