The pimple-fighting products Singaporean celebrity makeup artists swear by

Here’s what these local beauty gurus do when they want to get rid of that zit fast.

We can follow these quick fixes to make us less pimple-prone down to a T and wash our faces with the best zit-zapping cleansers twice daily, but unfortunately there will still be times when those pesky blemishes emerge despite our best efforts.

While you might be super tempted to pop that zit (Dr Sandra Lee – aka Dr Pimple Popper – on when you should do it) or slather on concealer, you might be better off giving these emergency pimple-fighting products that top Singaporean makeup artists swear by a go.

Below, celebrity makeup artists share the products they use when they need to get rid of pimples fast.

(Worked with actress Zhang Ziyi and singer Stefanie Sun)

I don’t like to aggravate them – sometimes I find they subside on their own after a few days, so I just let them come and go. But when I do want them to dry faster, I’ll dab some toothpaste on the spot. I really try not to do that as I still prefer to let things happen naturally. Sometimes, squeezing a zit just makes things worse.

When I feel a pimple coming up, I’ll dab a little of the Kiehl’s Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Mask onto the spot and leave it on. The zit will usually subside and disappear the day after or at most after two days.

For brides-to-be, I would recommend a pimple patch – Nexcare is good –  if they have a zit before their big day. This will help it subside. Don’t pop the pimple, otherwise applying makeup over the spot will be difficult after.

I use three different products. In order, they are:

Acnes25 Medical Lotion, to soften the skin and treat the inflammation. This can be used in the day and at night.

Paula’s Choice Resist BHA9, to calm the skin, unclog pores and reduce the inflammation. I use this at night.

Oxy5 has benzyl peroxide which I find is the most effective for treating acne. It’s best to ease into the usage of benzyl peroxide if you’re just starting (a thin layer is all you need) and it’s best to follow the product’s instructions. I use this only in the night.

When I feel a pimple surfacing, I use the Peter Thomas Roth Acne-Clear Invisible Dots Blemish Treatment. This speeds up drying and is clear so you won’t have to worry about it being noticeable over makeup.
