Rescue operation ends after deadly landfill collapse in Indonesia
A mountain of refuse gave way at Bantargebang landfill on the outskirts of Jakarta on Sunday (Mar 8), after days of heavy rain triggered a deadly collapse at the country’s largest waste site.
More than 200 rescuers worked around the clock, using excavators and thermal drones to locate those buried beneath tonnes of debris.
Authorities confirmed seven deaths after the final victim was recovered, bringing the search operation to an end on Tuesday (Mar 10). Six people survived the collapse.
