Indonesian police and protesters clash over delivery rider's death
Indonesian police and protesters clashed in Jakarta on Friday (Aug 29), amid growing anger over the death of a delivery rider who was hit by an armoured police vehicle the night before.
Demonstrators want accountability for those responsible for the death of the rider, Affan Kurniawan, reforms with the National Police and for the police chief to resign or be replaced.
Outside the headquarters of the Mobile Brigade Corps, or "Brimob", protesters removed a sign from its facade.
Other protesters threw objects at police officers outside the mobile brigade headquarters.
Police fired tear gas and water cannon in a bid to disperse the protesters.
As tensions escalated, protesters set fire to cars and other objects.
