Budget 2025 debate: He Ting Ru on dashboard with economic and social mission for policymaking
The government should revisit the idea of a developmental Budget dashboard that would measure how well Singapore is doing as a society and economy, as well as give a good account of its human, social and natural assets. MP He Ting Ru, who made this call in parliament on Wednesday (Feb 26), said it would measure how well Singapore is doing in terms of poverty reduction, social mobility and wealth distribution. It would also be useful in crafting the Budget package each year for positive social outcomes. The dashboard and its targets should be developed together with the public and formalised to collect qualitative and quantitative data from Singaporeans and measure how engaged residents are in society, she said.
