Committee of Supply 2019 debate, Day 2: Low Thia Khiang on fire safety in super high-rise buildings

In Parliament on Friday (Mar 1), MP Low Thia Khiang voiced concerns about fires in super high-rise public residential buildings. He noted that there are no trained, competent persons like security guards to help evacuate residents if there is a fire, or help conduct regular public education. Mr Low said this is all the more urgent in view of the ageing population, as many seniors may not be able to walk down many floors on their own and may not know that they should not take the lift.
