One key objective of the Land Betterment Charge is to serve the wider national interests and ensure that a fair proportion of the expected economic benefits from the land development is shared with the community, said MP Don Wee. Speaking in Parliament on Monday (May 10), he asked the Government if it would consider town improvement works as a form of compensation for communities which are affected by land development. He also wanted to know how the Government will ensure certainty and transparency in the way land betterment charges are calculated.
