Edwin Tong on Singapore's multi-pronged approach to tackle racism and racial discrimination

Singapore does not tolerate any form of racial discrimination, said Culture, Community and Youth Minister Edwin Tong. Speaking in reply to Parliamentary questions on Monday (Jul 5), he outlined Singapore's multi-pronged approach against racism. Firstly, it has the legal framework to deal with cases that undermine racial and religious harmony. Secondly, it fosters social norms for respectful online behaviour. Thirdly, it fosters open, meaningful and responsible conversations on race and religion. Fourthly, it enlarges the common spaces for Singaporeans to live, work and play together.
