Eric Chua on Mental Capacity (Amendment) Bill

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of planning for emergencies and possible loss of mental capacity, said Parliamentary Secretary for Social and Family Development Eric Chua in Parliament on Monday (Jul 5). He opened the debate on a Bill to allow the creation and execution of electronic Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs), which would make the process quicker, easier and more secure. The Bill also sets up measures to better and more proactively protect donors against the risk of fraud or undue influence by donees.
