Fadli Fawzi on Civil Defence Shelter and Fire Safety (Miscellaneous Amendments) Bill
A new Bill empowers the Singapore Civil Defence Force to better exercise regulatory oversight over bomb shelter products. However, as no cases of non-compliant products have been found, MP Fadli Fawzi asked for specific examples of products that are meant to be covered, or if any products in the market are prompting concern. He also asked if HDB bomb shelters can be used for long-term human occupancy in non-emergency situations and whether fixtures such as loft beds or wall-mounted air-cons would be considered alterations likely to impair the use of the shelter. He spoke in parliament on Tuesday (Sep 8).
