Gerald Giam on moving towards a low-carbon society

Singapore is still constantly reminding itself that it is a small country with inherent limitations, said MP Gerald Giam. It must move decisively to make a global impact in driving climate change action, he said in Parliament on Wednesday (Jan 12). He urged Singapore to play a leading role in test-bedding and developing new green technologies, and sharing these discoveries with the rest of the world. It should make low-carbon technology widely available at a reasonable cost, as this will be critical in spurring industry adoption and will benefit the rest of the world. He highlighted the green technologies that the Government should invest hugely in to “move the needle” significantly in the transition towards a low-carbon society.
