Hany Soh on Mental Capacity (Amendment) Bill

Hold a virtual meeting with the donor, donee and certificate issuer to ensure that they understand the content of the Lasting Power of Attorney. The certificate issuer should use a checklist to ensure that the parties involved have the mental capacity to execute the legal instruments. The meeting should be recorded and stored in the portal database for future reference by the Public Guardian, said MP Hany Soh, who made this suggestion in Parliament on Tuesday (Jul 6). She also called for an estate planning portal to be set up to encourage households to start working on contingencies.
