She suggested that companies be required or incentivised to perform diligence on their supply chains to mitigate the risks of violations, including environmental ones. This could start with firms of a certain size. She said such a move would help local businesses internationalise by setting them apart from competitors, especially in Asia, to lead the way in markets that place a premium on goods and services that are accountable and sustainable.
