A holistic approach is key to building sustainability and Singapore needs to look beyond its shores, said MP He Ting Ru in Parliament on Wednesday (Jan 12). She suggested that companies be required or incentivised to perform diligence on their supply chains to mitigate the risks of violations, including environmental ones. This could start with firms of a certain size. She said such a move would help local businesses internationalise by setting them apart from competitors, especially in Asia, to lead the way in markets that place a premium on goods and services that are accountable and sustainable.
