Heng Chee How on Retirement and Re-employment (Amendment) Bill and Central Provident Fund (Amendment) Bill
The Government must focus on safeguarding the employability of mature workers from middle age, to ensure they do not prematurely become unemployable and lose their jobs, said NTUC Deputy Secretary-General Heng Chee How. He said waiting till workers are near retirement age would be too late. In Parliament on Monday (Nov 1), Mr Heng also said policies and incentives must be partnered with effective last-mile implementation. He called for more investment to boost the capacity and effectiveness of job retraining, as well as a restructuring of Continuing Education and Training (CET).
