Just a week before South Koreans go to the polls on 9 March, 2022, two front runners are running neck and neck to be the next President of the country. The two candidates are Lee Jae-myung from the ruling Democratic Party. And Yoon Suk-yeol from the conservative opposition's People Power Party. But since the campaign began, real policy issues have been relegated to the background. Instead, personal attacks, scandals and graft allegations have taken centre stage. What they differ is in the area of foreign policy. Both have adopted contrasting approaches in dealing with the North Korea's nuclear threat. Whilst Lee favours a more peaceful engagement with Pyongyang, Yoon wants to adopt a hard-line approach against the hermit kingdom. Who of the two leading candidates will emerge victorious?
