Jamus Lim on Child Development Co-Savings (Amendment) Bill

Adoption may become increasingly common in Singapore, so support for adoptive parents proposed in a new Bill is welcome, said MP Jamus Lim in Parliament on Monday (Aug 2). However, he noted that the benefits apply to adoptive mothers and suggested that reference be made to the primary caregiver instead, regardless of gender. He also asked if, in the case of stillbirths, longer maternity leave could be considered for the mother to recover not just physically but psychologically, along with compassionate leave for the father.
