Jamus Lim on empowering women

There is substantial evidence pointing to the importance of gender equality for economic development, MP Jamus Lim told Parliament on Tuesday (Aug 3). He called for policy nudges in that direction, such as for the Government to institutionalise flexi-work arrangements, starting with the Civil Service, and introducing paid “re-entry programmes” to help mothers and informal caregivers return to the workforce. Assoc Prof Lim also suggested that companies of a certain size be required to disclose gender pay gaps.
