Employees with medical conditions, such as those needing kidney dialysis treatment, are protected from discrimination at work by the Tripartite Guidelines on Fair Employment Practices. Flexible work arrangements that would help such employees juggle work and personal circumstances are also encouraged, and companies are required to tell their staff about the options available. In 2020, 93 per cent of firms offered some form of flexible work. These details were given by Senior Minister of State for Manpower Koh Poh Koon in answer to MPs’ questions in Parliament on Tuesday (Aug 3).
