Koh Poh Koon on special leave for working parents if childcare centres or schools are closed due to COVID-19

Can the Government consider special leave for working parents to take if childcare centres or schools are closed due to COVID-19 cases? In asking the question, MP Saktiandi Supaat said such incidents affect many parents and may become more common if Singapore enters a COVID-endemic state. Responding in Parliament on Tuesday (Aug 3), Senior Minister of State for Manpower Koh Poh Koon said any enhancements to leave must take into account the manpower and operational needs of employers. He said a more sustainable way to support parents would be through providing more flexible work arrangements.
