Liang Eng Hwa on Singapore’s contributions to IMF initiatives for vulnerable countries

Every country must play its part to fight the COVID-19 crisis and Singapore has a strong stake in helping to ensure the pandemic is contained, connectivity is restored and the global economy recovers, said MP Liang Eng Hwa in Parliament on Monday (Apr 5). He supported the motions for grants to three initiatives by the International Monetary Fund to help low-income countries. However, he wanted to know what the considerations were in deciding to contribute to the IMF’s request for funding and whether Singapore knows how the money will be used.
