Louis Chua on empowering women

Changes in working patterns due to COVID-19 have cast a spotlight on gender inequalities at home and the difficulties women face in being both caregivers and breadwinners, said MP Louis Chua in Parliament on Tuesday (Aug 3). He said stronger societal recognition of shared responsibilities between women and men is key and that lawmakers must set the tone by ensuring care-related policies do not inadvertently perpetuate stereotypes. He also called for better recognition of unpaid care work, the bulk of which is still done by women.
