Melvin Yong on commemorating 200 years of the Singapore Police Force

Police work is challenging, not just because the job of keeping Singapore safe and secure never ends, but because much of the work goes unseen and unrecognised, said MP Melvin Yong in Parliament on Tuesday (Aug 3). Having previously served in the force for 20 years, he lauded the “invisible work” done by officers day and night. Mr Yong paid tribute to several units - police intelligence officers, the Police Coast Guard, Gurkhas, women police officers and volunteer police officers. He also spoke of the need to maintain public trust in the police force.
