Ministerial statement: K Shanmugam on concerns surrounding COVID-19 KTV cluster

Amid questions about the COVID-19 cluster linked to KTV clubs, Law and Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam said the Government was not “in cahoots” with such outlets, nor as naive about their operations as some might suggest. In Parliament on Monday (Jul 26), he explained the context in which KTV clubs were allowed to pivot to F&B, saying it was a risk-assessed approach that was generally working until the Delta variant struck. He also detailed enforcement operations and why the boyfriend/girlfriend category for visitors to Singapore was implemented, then scrapped after it was seen to be abused.
