Murali Pillai on Land Betterment Charge Bill

In Parliament on Monday (May 10), MP Murali Pillai asked about the handling of scenarios that did not appear to be covered by the Land Betterment Charge Bill. One was to do with remnant land, or land that cannot be independently developed because of its size or shape. He wanted to know what would happen if such land rose in value due to the amalgamation of plots. The other scenario was an increase in land value due to a court decision, such as lifting an easement - that is, the right to use or enter the land without possessing it.
