Poh Li San replies to debate on moving towards a low-carbon society

Everyone perceives the “sustainability elephant” in a different way, somewhat like the parable of the blind man touching the various parts of an elephant, said MP Poh Li San. For the transition to a low-carbon society to be truly inclusive and succeed, there should be a clear understanding of the precarious situation Singapore is in and a greater sense of urgency and motivation to do what is needed. Summarising the debate on the motion on moving towards a low-carbon society in Parliament on Wednesday (Jan 12), she said the discourse should continue in all quarters of society. She also said she is assured that so long as Singapore stays committed to the green journey, it has an excellent chance of staying ahead of the competition and will “leave no Singaporeans behind”. The motion was approved by the House.
