Raeesah Khan on empowering women

In Parliament on Tuesday (Aug 3), MP Raeesah Khan spoke about tackling sexual violence. She called for teachers, social workers and others who might interact with people with intellectual disabilities to be trained to identify potential cases of abuse and sexual violence. She asked that police officers be trained to handle sexual assault and harassment cases with sensitivity towards victims. She also pointed out a lack of inclusive workplaces for women who wear the hijab, saying this could prevent them from being able to support themselves financially.
