S Iswaran on 'walk, cycle, ride' as preferred way to get around Singapore

Sustainable transport is a key pillar of the Singapore Green Plan 2030, with "walk, cycle, ride" as the preferred way to get around, said Transport Minister S Iswaran. Replying to an MP's question in Parliament on Tuesday (Jul 27), he said the plan is to have 90 per cent of all peak period journeys made by "walk, cycle, ride" modes by 2040. He also outlined plans for a car-lite Jurong Innovation District and the existing industrial estate area. These include an 11-kilometre-long sky corridor for pedestrians and commuters.
