The police have been at the forefront of keeping Singapore safe. They have had to raise their game to meet complex new challenges and rising public expectations in a digital age. Making these points in Parliament on Tuesday (Aug 3), MP Sylvia Lim said nonetheless, the work of other agencies such as the Central Narcotics Bureau, Immigration and Checkpoints Authority and Prison Service must be recognised too. She also said effective policing cannot be judged on safety alone; due process is important and improvements can be made. She cited recording of statements and support for crime victims.
