Around 780 ex-offenders were hired with the support of the Jobs Growth Incentive (JGI) between September 2020 and February 2021. Most were in environmental services, food services, logistics, wholesale trade and construction. Manpower Minister Tan See Leng gave those details in response to an MP’s questions in Parliament on Tuesday (Aug 3). On how to ensure that ex-offenders are treated fairly after the 18-month JGI wage support period, Dr Tan said all workers can seek help from the Tripartite Alliance for Fair and Progressive Employment Practices if needed.
