URA offers building owners incentives to utilise district cooling systems
Singapore is taking further steps to make its city more liveable and sustainable, as part of its long-term urban planning. Building owners will be incentivised to utilise district cooling systems in a bid to cut the country's overall carbon footprint. Analysts said, besides freeing up valuable commercial space, these systems can save around 30% of energy consumption and reduce carbon emissions by around 50%. Public feedback is also being sought on plans to expand a programme that encourages greenery in urban areas and buildings. Nasyrah Rohim reports.Â
