Yip Hon Weng on Mental Capacity (Amendment) Bill

With the proposed digitalisation of the Lasting Power of Attorney, MP Yip Hon Weng urged the Government to facilitate the process for people who are not mobile, have disabilities or are illiterate. His suggestions included getting the Silver Generation Office to arrange house visits by certificate issuers and allowing authentication using digital fingerprints. In Parliament on Monday (Jul 5), Mr Yip also said checks could be instituted to look into cases where a donor with living relatives decides to appoint an unrelated person as the donee.
