Zaqy Mohamad on Workfare Income Supplement for self-employed persons

Nine in 10 eligible self-employed persons (SEPs) fulfilled their MediSave contributions and got Workfare Income Supplement (WIS) payouts for Work Year 2018. SEPs have up to two years to make their contributions after declaring full-year income and can pay by monthly instalments. The CPF Board may also help those in financial difficulty, such as by reducing or deferring the instalments. Senior Minister of State for Manpower Zaqy Mohamad gave these details in Parliament on Monday (Aug 2) in response to an MP’s question on concessions for SEPs to qualify for WIS in light of the COVID-19 crisis.
