Join us as we check out various sightseeing spots in Kyoto and Kamakura, with the help of experts. We begin in Kyoto, which was ranked as a top sightseeing area by a US travel magazine this year. With its many World Heritage sites, Kyoto attracts visitors from all over the world.
Our expert is Misako Yasuda, who is from Kyoto. The first sightseeing spot is located at the top of Kyoto Station. From the Skyway, one can see the whole of Kyoto. Climb the “Big Stairway” to the rooftop. It has 171 steps, which are beautifully lit up at night. From the top, admire the view of Kyoto Tower and even Arashiyama and Higashiyama. Next, head to Nanzenji Temple at the foot of Kyoto Higashiyama. It is a popular sightseeing spot to view autumn leaves. There is something very rare in the temple, which was made during the Meiji era. The Nanzenji Waterway was constructed in 1890 to transfer water from Lake Biwa to Kyoto City, and it is still being used now. After this, go to Santa Maria Novella Tisaneria Kyoto. We continue our adventure along the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route. From the Shomyodaki bus stop, walk towards the highest waterfall in Japan. There is a sightseeing platform, located 1,050m above sea level. The water of the Shomyodaki waterfall comes from the Tateyama Mountain Range.

This week, we visit the top 10 hot springs in the Kanto area, which are surrounded by gorgeous greenery in summer. We start with a hot spring which is at the 10th spot. Travel by shuttle bus for half an hour from Matsumoto City in Nagano Prefecture to Myojinkan, situated 1,050m above sea level.
