Craving a comforting bowl of congee at midnight? Have savoury fried carrot cake on your mind at 8am?

With the opening of Paradise Group’s latest Canton Paradise outlet – its 11th one – at Bishan’s Junction 8, your Cantonese food cravings are easily satisfied in the central heartland district.

Open from 8am to 2am daily, Canton Paradise at Junction 8 is the chain’s first outlet to offer breakfast and supper, essentially offering all-day dining. A specially selected menu will be served from 8am to 11am and from 9.30pm to 2am, while signature favourites continue to please palates throughout the day.

But really, no matter the hour you visit, you’ll enjoy a spirited dining experience with oriental chic flair: Marble and wood are decorated with plum and jade-green tiles, while the curved lines of courtyard window silhouettes are traced with elegant rose-gold finishing. The two-storey (also a first for Canton Paradise) restaurant is indiscriminately casual, filled with the chirpy energy of a typical Hong Kong diner.

ROOTED IN AUTHENTICITY

The core of Canton Paradise is its tenet of authenticity. After doing extensive research in Shunde, a famed culinary city in Guangzhou reputed to be the birthplace of Cantonese cuisine, CEO Eldwin Chua and his team of chefs have created an inspired menu that pays homage to the city’s robust flavours.

Cantonese roast specialties like the Crispy Roasted Irish Duck and BBQ Pork Belly with Honey Sauce pair well with home-cooked classics like Stir-fried French Beans with Minced Pork and Preserved Olive Vegetables. Another must-order is the Steamed Kampong Chicken in Canton Style, a throwback to the rich and smooth flavours of Shunde, evident in every bite of tender chicken that’s dipped in its own jus.

Other than these, breakfast is made all the more delicious with the ‘Ting Zai’ Style Congee. Jasmine and pearl rice grains are boiled continuously to achieve a silky mouthfeel, with fresh fish belly and century egg pieces completing the comforting dish. For lunch, ‘yumcha’ with friends and colleagues with Wok-fried Carrot Cake in XO Sauce, Steamed Pork Siew Mai and Prawn Ha Kao Dumplings.

Dinner specials include the hearty Signature Canton Jumbo Prawn Wanton Noodle, with al dente noodles made from finely-milled flour imported from Hong Kong. If rice is more your carb, then the aromatic Yang Zhou Fried Rice with its expertly stir-fried wok flavours will not disappoint. Accompany these with Braised Tofu with Shrimp Paste and Pork Belly, served in a claypot.

While a short flight to Hong Kong is not too difficult these days, that craving for piping hot Cantonese food can now be satiated in a matter of minutes for those in the area. Head on down to Canton Paradise Junction 8 and indulge in the essence of Hong Kong dining.

From July 13 to 28, Standard Chartered cardholders, as well as Paradise Gourmet Rewards members, can enjoy an exclusive rate of S$1.10 for each of Canton Paradise’s top 11 dishes with every S$20 spent, exclusively at their outlet at Junction 8, #01-51.
