Most homecoming rituals include stepping into the shower as a respite from Singapore’s humid weather. There’s nothing quite like the cleansing quality of a bath to wash away your cares (and dirt and grime!). Busy folk increasingly invest more time in a therapeutic shower experience as a form of self-care – making designer bathroom fittings that look and work well a must-have among house-proud homeowners.

With two brands in its stable – AXOR and hansgrohe – the Hansgrohe Group’s offerings can be found in prestigious establishments such as Dubai’s stunning Burj Khalifa, luxury liner Queen Mary 2 and the ultra-modern Andaz Hotel Singapore. The German group is known not only for its award-winning designs in bath and kitchen fittings, but also for its progressive outlook that revolves around functional innovation. It’s hard to believe the forward-looking company put down roots over a century ago.

HUMBLE BEGINNINGS

In 1901 in the small Black Forest town of Schiltach Germany, the enterprising Hans Grohe started with a small three-man team and began creating metal-spun goods like brass pans and watch parts. One of his specialties was the tin shower.

At the turn of the 20th century, private home bathrooms were a desirable but decadent addition. The innovative Hans Grohe popularised the tin shower as an affordable response to the trend, and went on to blaze new trails in the advancement of shower technology in the decades to come.

Today, the Klaus Grohe family holds 32 per cent of shares in Hansgrohe group by way of its holding company, with 33 subsidiaries and 22 sales offices supplying AXOR and hansgrohe products in more than 140 countries. The Hansgrohe Group focuses on three important pillars – innovation, design and quality – to safeguard its market-leading heritage.

Innovative design remains one of hansgrohe's hallmarks and it continues to make waves in the bathroom.

FUELLED BY ENDLESS INNOVATION

Unceasing improvement has been the cornerstone upon which Hans Grohe built his business. In 1928, he introduced the convenient hand shower to the masses. In 1953, aged 82, he invented the wall bar with its height-customisation function.

Subsequent milestones forged by the company include the world’s first hand shower with adjustable spray types and water-saving technology that was unveiled in 1987. While many of these features seem common now, the company’s visionary ways mean that it continues to revolutionise and influence modern shower culture.

Shower experiences continued to evolve with the introduction of Raindance in 2003 with its hallmark large shower face. In 2018, the PowderRain technology harnessed a newly-developed micro spray technique, which releases a silky curtain of water to envelope the body, giving rise to a therapeutic shower experience that refreshes and calms.

Featuring six fine openings that provide a mist-like cleaning, the sophisticated technology ensures these micro-droplets not only land on skin gently, but reduces splashing – perfect for open showers, especially in smaller bathrooms. And because the Raindance Select S 120 PowderRain hand showers with built-in PowderRain technology are whisper-quiet, retreating into your shower is now a bona fide meditative treat.

The Rainfinity shower range brings a whole new dimension to the shower experience with its unique design.

CHIC DESIGN

Every hansgrohe fixture is identifiable worldwide by its elegant form and is created in conjunction with award-winning design studio Phoenix DesignThe brand’s impeccable aesthetics have garnered over 600 awards, including the iF and reddot design awards.

The Rainfinity shower range, released in 2019, continues to impress. Merging form and function in versatile pieces – such as the shoulder shower with an integrated shelf – the clean, iconic design featuring a contemporary matte white finish in graphite is the new statement piece for any bathroom.

The Rainfinity shower range has bagged the coveted Best of Best distinction at the 2019 ICONIC AWARDS: Innovative Architecture competition, as well as the iF gold award, the highest accolade for outstanding design in Munich.

LASTING QUALITY

The Hansgrohe Group’s longevity in its field is a reflection of its commitment to making only quality products. It scrutinises the manufacturing process, ensuring high quality borne from premium materials and sturdy forms. The cartridges in its mixers and hoses are all made in Germany. With every purchase at Hansgrohe Aquademie and authorised dealers in Singapore, homeowners have added peace of mind as products come with a five-year warranty against manufacturing defects.
