Covid-19: Are bus drivers required to wear masks?
Not all bus drivers wear a mask on duty, the writer says.
As a frequent public transport user, I wonder if our bus drivers are being adequately protected against Covid-19.
Not all bus drivers wear a mask on duty. I have seen drivers don masks of various shades — white, pink, green and multi-coloured.
Are our bus operators or the Land Transport Authority (LTA) providing our bus drivers with surgical masks? By keeping public transport in operation, they are no doubt providing an essential service.
Some taxi and ride-hailing firms have supplied their drivers with masks. The same should apply to bus drivers, to protect them and their passengers. With London reporting deaths of bus drivers from Covid-19, this is an urgent call to bus operators and the LTA to do right by their drivers and passengers.
